The role of the fashion and textile industries has been significant during the Covid-19 pandemic. Many apparel companies contribute to reducing the pandemic impact by shifting their productions to masks and protective gowns providing immediate helped for many medical professionals and civilians. However, Covid-19 has resulted in many other challenges and issues apparel and textile companies need to solve.
The objective of this Special Issue is to examine the challenges and the impact of unprecedented changes of Covid-19, and to illustrate how the fashion and textile companies are responding and adapting the scenario of Covid-19 from the global and multidisciplinary perspectives.
This Special Issue aims to assess:
1) Main changes implemented by companies (e.g., increasing and redirecting production to pandemic essentials, restructuring retail operation);
2) Challenges and opportunities that the pandemic brings to fashion brands, manufactures, and retailers;
3) Changes in company organization structure and its impact on suppliers, employees, and competitors.
We expect proposals (around 400 words) that summarize background, major focus, and the scope of the manuscript by August 20, 2020. Both empirical and conceptual papers with strong case analyses are welcome.
We expect a couple rounds of review; reviewers, contributors, and editors will develop an expedited process.
The special issue will follow Fashion & Textiles’ existing style guidelines and review procedures (i.e., double-blind review).
